Early Head Start (pregnant women and children through three years of age) is operated in Clay, Harlan, Jackson, Knox, Laurel and Rockcastle Counties. KCEOC operates Head Start (children three through five years of age) in Knox, Clay and Harlan Counties. Volunteers are welcome and are an integral part of the daily operation of our program. The Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative Head Start/Early Head Start Program serves 309 preschool children and 80 infants, toddlers and prenatal women in a predominantly rural eight-county area adjoining the urban sprawl of Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky on the Ohio River in Northern. Parents are involved in the administrative and programmatic operations of our program and are recognized as the prime educators of their children. Kentucky Head Start School Readiness Goals. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities, as well as homeless children. WKUCCC is a unit of Training & Technical Assistance Services (T/TAS), a department in the College of Education & Behavioral Sciences. Our Child Development program promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families. WKUCCC operates a combination Early Head Start, Head Start and Non-Profit Child Care Program for children six weeks through five years of age. KCEOC’s Child Development program (Head Start and Early Head Start) is a federally funded, community based program for pregnant women and families with children through five years of age.
